Mallorca's goalkeeper is injured in the head, Anisimova withdraws, and Georgia draws with Ukraine

Real Mallorca goalkeeper Ivan “Piccio” Cuellar suffered a serious head injury after a solid object fell on him inside the dining hall of the training center of the club competing in the Spanish second division of football on Monday.

The club said that Cuellar was taken to hospital following the accident that occurred in the Antonio Asensio Sports City, also known as Son Bibiloni, before the team's scheduled training session under the leadership of coach Luis Garcia in preparation for facing Girona on Sunday in the second division.

Despite the anxiety caused by the accident, Mallorca said that the goalkeeper is recovering well, while doctors continue to monitor his condition after ruling out other complications.

The club said in a statement: “This morning, Ivan (Piccio) Cuellar suffered a serious head injury after a large structure that was part of the food hall in the Sports City collapsed. The player was transferred to the hospital to receive treatment, and will remain under observation for the next 24 hours.”

Cuellar's injury leaves coach Garcia with limited options in the goalkeeping position. Lukas Bergstrom is with the Finland national team during the international break, leaving Arnau Tinas the only first-team goalkeeper available.

American tennis player Amanda Anisimova announced on Monday that she was ending her season early in order to recover from a recurring wrist injury.
