Democrats asked the White House for information about a wedding gift to Trump Jr. from Umar Kremlev

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Minority Whip Robert Garcia has asked the White House for all information regarding reports that Russian businessman Umar Kremlev paid for part of the wedding expenses of US President Donald Trump Jr.'s son as a gift. Politico reports this.

“As the son of the President of the United States, as well as a co-owner and major investor in a number of companies that have large-scale contracts with the Department of War, you, praising such an “extraordinarily generous wedding gift” from a member of Vladimir Putin’s inner circle, raises serious questions,” the congressman wrote in a letter addressed to the son of the head of the White House.

At the same time, Bettina, the wife of Donald Jr., criticized the Democrats’ reaction to the wedding gift, noting that she did not see anything reprehensible in it. She called Kremlev a “dear friend” and added that he “very generously organized two incredible evenings” after the wedding, which took place in May this year.

“It’s unfortunate that something so personal and joyful can be misconstrued as something political or sinister simply because of who you are or where you come from. Friendship does not require political motives. Generosity does not always come with a hidden agenda. And sometimes a wedding gift is just a wedding gift,” she concluded.

In April, Vladimir Putin awarded the Order of Friendship to the President of the International Boxing Federation (IBA) Umar Kremlev. He was also part of the Russian delegation during the president's visit to China.
