World Economic Forum Liang Jinhui: Artificial intelligence will restructure production and life, and its development for good should be promoted

China News Service, Beijing, September 22 (Reporter Chen Hang) Liang Jinhui, executive director of the World Economic Forum and chairman of Greater China, said at the 2026 China-Europe Talent Forum on the 21st that artificial intelligence will restructure production and life like electricity and the Internet. Human beings should be guided by wisdom, ethics and values, promote artificial intelligence for good, become an engine of inclusive growth, and ensure continued prosperity and development for future generations.

Liang Jinhui said that mankind is currently at a crossroads in history. Artificial intelligence is driving an unprecedented and huge change, widely entering factories, cities and homes, and becoming a part of daily life. This has also led to a greater global focus on human creative potential rather than just knowledge and technology itself.

Liang Jinhui said that the world is entering an era driven by artificial intelligence. Technology is a double-edged sword that not only promotes innovation and efficiency growth, but may also pose threats due to lack of governance and conscience. Today, the global focus is not just on how quickly AI models improve, but how those advances translate into real-world outcomes, including productivity gains, impacts on workforce and infrastructure, and data security.

Liang Jinhui said that history shows that whether it is electricity or the Internet, major breakthroughs take time to show widespread economic benefits. Today, most companies have used artificial intelligence for coding assistance, automated customer service, etc., but this is just the tip of the iceberg. The real benefits come from companies integrating artificial intelligence into existing systems, combining their own data and industry experience to reconstruct business processes.

Liang Jinhui said that technology knows no borders. In the face of problems such as algorithmic bias and security vulnerabilities brought about by artificial intelligence, governments of various countries should strengthen cooperation with enterprises to properly manage this tool and promote artificial intelligence to better protect the environment, bridge differences, and promote sustainable development.

On the same day, the 2026 China-EU Talent Forum was held in Beijing.
