Iran denies the existence of plans to negotiate with America during the delegation's visit to New York

On Sunday, the official Iranian News Agency (IRNA) quoted a source close to the Iranian delegation in New York, which is attending the United Nations General Assembly meetings, that there are no plans to negotiate with America on the delegation’s agenda.

This came after a statement by US President Donald Trump, in which he told Axios earlier on Sunday that he expected negotiations with Iran to continue during this week.

IRNA quoted the source as saying: “The American side was informed of the observations and positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran clearly and transparently last Tuesday through the Qatari mediator, and Iran is awaiting a response from the American side.”

He continued: "Accordingly, there is no plan for a new round of negotiations with the American side on the agenda of the Iranian delegation, and the Foreign Minister will return to the country on Tuesday after completing the visit program."

Trump said in an interview with Axios: "I expect more talks with Iran (this week). They want to make a deal, but it's not the deal I want. It's the deal we probably would have agreed to a year ago; they've overstated their position."
