The right hand of St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky will be delivered to Moscow to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior; it will be possible to visit the shrine from September 15 to 20, said Vitaly Suchkov, head of the Moscow Department of National Policy and Interregional Relations.

“The relics arrive in Moscow on September 14 at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. This is, of course, a big event in the spiritual life of our city. And on the instructions of Moscow Mayor Sergei Semenovich Sobyanin, the Moscow government is providing the necessary assistance in organizing access for believers to the Hand,” Suchkov said at a press conference at the international multimedia press center “Russia Today.”

The head of the department noted that the relics have already traveled a long way through the cities of Russia, and access to the shrine will be organized from September 15 to 19 from 8.00 to 20.00 and on September 20 from 8.00 to 14.00.

“Everyone who wants to worship goes through the general queue. To create the safest and most comfortable conditions for access for Muscovites and guests of our city, the government will provide both medical support and sanitary and hygienic support. During the stay of the shrine in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, we will have a hotline organized, in which priests, volunteers, and professional psychologists will take part,” he said.

Suchkov warned that on the way to the relics you will have to spend a lot of time in line and you need to be patient and understanding of the security measures being taken.

Saint Spyridon of Trimythous was born at the end of the 3rd century on the island of Cyprus. In the world he was a shepherd, he had a family, and at the end of his life he became the bishop of the city of Trimifunt. According to church tradition, Saint Spyridon performed many miracles: through his prayers the drought ended, the sick were healed, and the oil in the church lamp increased.
