Korea South-East Power and Doosan Energy expand their search force to find nine missing Koreans due to floods in Nepal

Korea South-East Power and Doosan Energy expanded the number and scope of their on-site search to find nine Korean employees who went missing due to the massive floods in Nepal.

According to the local corporate response team on the 4th, Korea South-East Power is conducting an onshore search by dividing a total of 25 people, all made up of local people, into two teams.

An official from South-East Power said, "We have been conducting a land search with a team of 10 local people since the 30th of last month. We had not disclosed it due to concerns about diplomatic friction, but due to a recent change in the Nepal government's position, we made the search public and increased the number of people to 25."

Korea South-East Power is conducting a search operation by dividing the area around the accident site into zones with a total of 5 teams, including 2 land teams, 2 drone teams (total of 6 vehicles), and 1 search dog team.

Doosan Energy is also expanding its search radius.

The day before, a helicopter was launched and a search operation was conducted from the main camp of the power plant to the area downstream of the river. On this day, we plan to recruit a helicopter and begin the search as soon as we receive permission for operation and takeoff.

Previously, the search had focused on the office building of the power plant and the upper weir dam where the missing people stayed, but as no significant results were found, the search scope was expanded to the downstream area.

Previously, on the 26th of last month, a major flood occurred in the Rasuwa area of ​​Bagmati Province, Nepal, and hit the construction site of the Upper Trishuli (UT)-1 hydroelectric power plant. As a result of this accident, 9 Korean workers, including 6 Doosan Energy employees and 3 South East Power employees, who were at the scene, went missing.

Although it has been 10 days since the accident, both companies are continuing the search without giving up hope.
