A candidate surnamed Zhang, who registered to run for Liubao District Chief in Daya District, Taichung, hosted more than 30 residents on a one-day trip in August this year and provided three meals and snacks worth more than NT$1,200 for free. On the way, he publicly asked for votes and asked for support. After interrogation by the prosecutor, the candidate surnamed Zhang and two supporters Wu and Huang were involved in the serious crime of voting bribery under Article 99, Item 11 of the Public Employee Election and Recall Act, and there were enough facts to prove that there was a risk of colluding with accomplices or witnesses. Late last night, they applied to the court for a detention ban. The Taichung District Court will make a ruling today.
