The New Taipei District Prosecutor's Office charged Mr. Wang with homicide and attempted homicide. According to the prosecutor's investigation, at about 4 pm that day, Wang Nan was driving at the intersection of Jingping Road and Dayong Street in Zhonghe. When he was about to turn left on Dayong Street, he first hit a curb, then reversed violently and hit a motorcycle waiting to turn left. On the motorcycle, his sister surnamed Lin fell to the ground with her younger sister. As Lin Nan's vehicle continued to fall backwards, the victim's sister had fallen in front of the vehicle. At 4:26, Wang Nan increased his murderous intent and directly switched the gear from reverse to forward gear, accelerating and ramming into the victim.
The prosecutor's investigation revealed that after Wang Nan drove over the two bodies and paused, he did not stop. Instead, he stepped on the accelerator again and accelerated past the two bodies and drove away from the intersection. He then got out of the car and was subdued by the brave public. After receiving the report, the police rushed to the hospital and sent the victim's sister to the hospital. Among them, the sister suffered multiple contusions and fractures in the chest and abdomen, liver, lung lacerations, and heart contusions, resulting in pneumothorax and multiple organ injuries. She was pronounced dead after rescue. The sister also suffered multiple fractures in the left rib, a locked fracture in the pelvis, and multiple bruises on the limbs.
The police at the scene found that Mr. Wang was in a trance. After conducting an alcohol breath test, Mr. Wang's alcohol level was 0, but the drug saliva rapid screen test showed a positive reaction for etomidate, and an etomidate cigarette cartridge and a smoking device were found on his body. The prosecutor applied to the court for approval at that time, and yesterday he was charged with drug driving, homicide and attempted homicide. After the transfer, Mr. Wang confessed to drug driving and denied committing murder. The collegial court believed that Mr. Wang was guilty of a serious crime. He only admitted objective facts and denied subjective criminal intent. During the investigation, he claimed that he was unconscious while driving and did not know how to operate the vehicle. Obviously, he did not shirk responsibility and evade.
