Chiayi County Mayor Weng Zhangliang led a delegation to Poland to visit the National Defense Exhibition to promote cooperation in the Taiwan-Poland drone industry

Chiayi County is promoting the development of the UAV industry. The county has the Asian UAV AI Innovation Application R&D Center and the Minxiong Aerospace Park. County Mayor Weng Zhangliang led the county team and UAV industry, academia and research representatives to Poland for exchanges. On September 10, they went to Kielce to attend the 34th Polish International Defense Industry Exhibition (MSPO). They learned about the latest development trends in global defense technology, UAVs and unmanned systems, and communicated with international industry players to create international cooperation opportunities for Taiwan's UAV industry.

MSPO is an important defense industry exhibition in Europe. This year, it attracted more than 1,000 manufacturers from 40 countries to participate in the exhibition. The scale reached a record high. The exhibition focused on forward-looking technologies such as national defense, aerospace, unmanned systems, artificial intelligence and anti-drone, reflecting the global emphasis on national defense independence and safe and reliable supply chains.

Weng Zhangliang and the delegation went to the Taiwan Defense Industry Exhibition Area to learn about Taiwanese companies' expansion into the European market. They then visited exhibition areas such as the Polish defense industry representative PGZ Group, the unmanned system manufacturer WB GROUP, and the anti-drone system manufacturer Advanced Protection Systems (APS). They also visited the Canadian National Pavilion and Canadian UAVs, the guest of honor this year, to learn about technology and market development trends such as unmanned systems, autonomous flight, and anti-drone systems. The delegation also communicated with the Polish Unmanned Systems Association (PISB) at the Taiwan Defense Industry Development Association exhibition area to exchange views on the Polish UAV industry, market demand and Taiwan-Poland cooperation.

Weng Zhangliang said that the most important thing about this visit is to have an in-depth understanding of the development trends and actual needs of the international market. Taiwan has industrial advantages in semiconductors, information communications, precision manufacturing, and electronic components. How to further transform existing industrial energy into the competitiveness of the drone industry, deepen cooperation with international partners, and expand the market will be an important issue for the drone industry to move internationally.

Weng Zhangliang pointed out that the drone industry in Europe has developed rapidly in recent years, and Ukraine has attracted more international attention in the application and technology development of drones. He went to the exhibition area to learn about attack, counter-drone and other application trends. In terms of non-red supply chains, the international market attaches great importance to cooperation with Taiwan. Taiwan has technological and supply chain advantages and has high potential for cooperation with the European drone industry. In the future, more Taiwanese companies can be encouraged to enter into joint ventures, technical cooperation or technology licensing with European partners to deepen the industrial links between the two parties.

Weng Zhangliang believes that the actual participation in international exhibitions is to grasp the front-line industrial development trends and market demands, further find Taiwan's entry points in the fields of technology, components and supply chains, expand opportunities for cooperation with international partners, and allow Taiwanese businesses to directly contact the international market.
