CITIC Brothers fires former U.S.-based pitcher Xu Jilin for drunk driving

CITIC Brothers issued a statement late at night on the 19th, expelling former American pitcher Xu Jilin, terminating the contractual relationship, and pursuing liability for damages for major breach of contract. The verdict of the Pingtung District Court pointed out that Xu Jilin crashed into a telephone pole while driving drunk, and the vehicle overturned. His alcohol level was as high as 0.72 mg per liter. He was sentenced to five months in prison for being unable to drive a powered vehicle safely, and could be fined.

According to the prosecutor's investigation, around 9 pm on September 14, 2025, Xu Jilin drank beer all night at a friend's residence in Jiuru Township, Pingtung County. He drove on the road at about 5:50 the next morning. In less than 11 minutes, he hit a telephone pole on Luoning Road, Yanpu Township. The impact was so powerful that the telephone pole broke and the vehicle overturned. Xu Jilin was injured and sent to Pingtung Christian Hospital for treatment. After the police arrived at the hospital, they measured Xu Jilin's breath alcohol concentration at 0.72 milligrams per liter at 7:1 a.m.

The verdict pointed out that Xu Jilin knew that in addition to endangering his own safety, Xu Jilin would also cause a high degree of danger to the lives, bodies and property of other passers-by, but he still ignored the public safety of the public. After drinking, the alcohol concentration in his breath exceeded the legal standard value of 0.25 mg per liter, but he still insisted on driving on the road. After considering the crime, he confessed to the crime, and this was a first offense of drunk driving. Therefore, he was sentenced to five months in prison and could easily be fined.
