At least 16 dead in Russian drone strikes in Ukraine

At least 16 people have been killed in Russian drone strikes on a busy shopping center in the southeastern Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih. The military governor of the Dnipro region reported this on the Telegram news platform. The number of injured had increased to 130 by the evening, and 29 people had suffered serious injuries, it was said. There were more than 20 children among the injured, five of whom suffered serious injuries.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyj spoke in a post on Facebook of an "absolutely cynical and underhanded attack on an ordinary shopping center." According to him, the drones attacked in two waves. "Half an hour after the first hit and the outbreak of a fire, there was another attack on the rescue workers," he reported.

"Such attacks are simply acts of terrorism," he emphasized. The world must respond accordingly - with real pressure on the aggressor. “For peace to prevail, Russia must actually be held accountable,” said Zelensky.

Kryvyi Rih is located around 350 kilometers southeast of the capital Kyiv. Just a few days ago, the city was attacked by the Russian military with combat drones and ballistic missiles. According to official information, two civilians died and almost a dozen people were injured.

Another Russian attack hit the Mykolaiv region in the evening. According to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, at least four people died, including three children. The Russian attack hit a shop, a pharmacy and a post office.
