This event used flowers as a matchmaker and art as a bridge, and brought together more than 200 guests, floral practitioners, and youth representatives from both sides of the Taiwan Strait. The number of participants, the number of flower planting works, and the variety of flower plantings all hit the highest ever.
Yunnan is the largest fresh cut flower planting and production base in China. Located in the Dounan Flower Market in Kunming City, it is also the largest fresh cut flower trading hub in Asia. Since 2020, the city has used flowers as matchmakers and art to build bridges, and has continued to create the "Flower Language of Mountains and Seas" brand activity, making the art of flower planting a vivid carrier of cultural exchanges and friendship between Kuntai and Taiwan, and a beautiful business card for friendly exchanges between people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
This flower design carnival is one of the 14th "Yuntai Festival" series of exchange activities. With the theme of "Lakeside Spring City, Landscape and Flower City", it closely follows the main line of Mid-Autumn Festival reunion and the same origin of traditional Chinese culture. It aims to build a platform for Kunming and Taiwan's non-governmental exchanges and industrial cooperation through immersive cultural experience, professional flower art exhibitions and digital all-area communication, continue to deepen cross-strait economic, trade and cultural exchanges and cooperation, and jointly promote the excellent traditional Chinese culture.
Wang Rong, director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Kunming Municipal People's Government, introduced in the opening speech that Kunming contains unlimited business opportunities and potential. She hopes that Taiwanese businessmen and Taiwanese youth will bring creative ideas, cutting-edge technologies, and high-quality projects to Kunming to pursue their dreams, start businesses, and deepen development, and jointly open up a new track for exchanges and cooperation between Kunming and Taiwan.
Qin Pengzhen, president of the Taiwan Compatriots Investment Enterprises Association in Kunming, introduced in his speech that Kunming and Taiwan have the same cultural heritage, complementary flower industry foundations and similar floral aesthetics, and have natural and profound advantages in exchanges and cooperation. The association will continue to serve as a "liaison" and "server" for people-to-people exchanges across the Taiwan Strait, and facilitate two-way interaction between flower art talents and youth groups on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
On that day, 40 florists from both sides of the Taiwan Strait jointly created an exhibition of more than 20 flower plant works, a flower fairy theme show "Mountains and Sea Looking at the Moon", a creative flower fashion show, and 56 ethnic costume performances, attracting many citizens and tourists.
Florist Li Xi is from Pu'er City, Yunnan Province and has worked in Kunming for many years. "I have been to the first three flower plant design carnivals, and I have participated in the design since the fourth one." She said that the theme work she designed this year is called "Welcome in the Same Boat, Mountains and Seas Come from the Same Origin", which combines famous Spring City flowers with Taiwan's characteristic flower materials, and uses floral art to interpret the deep connection between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait.
It is reported that more than 200 kinds of flower plants, such as carnations, roses, turtle leaves, rhododendrons, Penglai pine, etc. were used in the flower plant works of this flower plant design carnival.
This flower design carnival lasts for three days. During this period, there are many activities such as Mid-Autumn Festival social exchanges, Kuntai Youth Cultural Exchange and Flower Industry Empowerment Salon, and industry negotiations.
The event is guided by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Yunnan Provincial People's Government and hosted by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Kunming Municipal People's Government and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Chenggong District People's Government.
