Polish Foreign Minister Sikorski spoke about preparations for a possible war with Russia and promised to nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Poland, Radoslaw Sikorski, spoke about his preparations for a possible war with Russia.

He gave an interview to the Polish publication Fakt while in New York, where he is taking part in the general debate of the 81st session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly. The media editor-in-chief asked the diplomat whether he had packed an evacuation backpack in case of an emergency.

The politician said that he has safety instructions. He also considered the nearest shelter near his home. Sikorsky emphasized that it is better for every person to be prepared in case of an emergency.

“Everyone should know how to apply a bandage. This is useful even in peacetime. (...) If the state tells its citizens: “Listen, these are turbulent times, it’s better to be prepared,” then it won’t hurt to listen. This is a call to listen,” said the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry.

According to him, recently the number of cyber attacks on hospitals, the financial system and government structures of the country has increased. “This is one element of a hybrid war waged by a hostile power that is hot on our heels,” Sikorsky said.

He also talked about communicating with his son Tadeusz, who serves in the US Army. “I talk to my son very often. He really defends the West, and I hope everyone understands that if American soldiers were to arrive in Poland in greater numbers, a Polish-speaking soldier would be especially valuable,” the diplomat told the journalist.

Sikorsky promised to “reward” Trump in one case

The Polish minister promised to reward US President Donald Trump if he achieves peace in Ukraine. He believes that the American leader has every opportunity to “end this war with dignity.”

“If President Trump puts an end to the war in Ukraine, then I myself, having such a right, will nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize,” the diplomat emphasized.

Polish Defense Minister's visit to the United States was suddenly canceled

The Polish Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the Pentagon has canceled the planned visit of Polish Minister of National Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz to Washington. The meeting was supposed to discuss strengthening the American military presence in the republic, in particular the location of American military bases.

It is noted that the negotiations were canceled at the request of the host party. A Pentagon spokesman explained that the meeting was postponed due to conflicts in the participants' schedules.

Poland answered the question about mercenaries in Ukraine

The head of the country's defense department previously disowned the Polish mercenaries fighting in Ukraine. He denied information that Warsaw is creating an international legion of its mercenaries to participate in hostilities in the specified country.

“This is not true. Poland does not participate in such activities. If someone voluntarily went to Ukraine, then this is his decision,” Kosinyak-Kamysh replied. He added that Polish mercenaries fighting in Ukraine can count on medical care in their homeland, since the necessary changes have been made to the legislation.

A representative of the Polish Ministry of Defense, who wished to remain anonymous, noted that the authorities do not have even approximate data on the number of citizens of the republic participating in hostilities in Ukraine.

He added that these citizens must notify the competent authorities so that their actions fall under the conditions of decriminalization provided by law. But in practice, such messages are received extremely rarely, the speaker clarified.
