Israeli army says Hezbollah launches drone attack in southern Lebanon

(Central News Agency, Jerusalem, June 6, Comprehensive Foreign News Report) The Israeli military said today that it was launching an attack on southern Lebanon after Hezbollah launched drones at Israeli soldiers, and called on residents of Arab Salim to evacuate.

Agence France-Presse reported that the Israeli military issued a statement saying that "terrorists from the terrorist organization Hezbollah launched two drones at Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers who were performing tasks in the security zone in southern Lebanon." There are currently no reports of injuries to the soldiers.

"This is a blatant violation by the terrorist organization Hezbollah. In response, the Israel Defense Forces are launching attacks in southern Lebanon," the statement noted.

In a separate message, the Israeli army also warned the residents of Arab Salem, asking them to evacuate before the Israeli attack.

"You are located near a facility of the terrorist organization Hezbollah, and the Israel Defense Forces will take action against the facility," a message posted on Telegram in Arabic by the Israeli military said.

In March this year, Lebanon was involved in the Middle East war due to the attack on Israel by Hezbollah, which was backed by Iran. Israel subsequently launched air strikes and ground invasions. Lebanese authorities said these attacks had killed more than 4,300 people.

The local conflict has de-escalated since the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding on the broader conflict in June, and Israel and Lebanon reached a framework agreement later that month.

The Israeli army is currently operating within the self-declared "safe zone" about 10 kilometers deep in the Lebanese border zone.
