The USS Lincoln aircraft carrier leaves Thailand after a five-day vacation supply trip

After a five-day vacation and port call, the US Navy aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln officially left Thailand on the morning of the 6th. This brief port call after about nine months of deployment at sea is estimated to have brought consumption income of up to 100 million baht (approximately NT$96 million) to the local area. Pattaya Mayor Poramase Ngampiches said on the 6th that the US military officers and soldiers spent an estimated 100 million baht locally during their five-day visit. In addition, the city earned millions of baht from selling toothpaste and other supplies to the Lincoln.

"AFP" reported that during previous deployments, the officers and soldiers of the USS Lincoln once lacked basic personal toiletries such as toothpaste, deodorant and soap. Pollames said that many sailors and marines used their time in port to shop and visit attractions. He believed this showed that the officers and soldiers missed their families and wanted to buy some souvenirs for their families to take back.

Because Pattaya is famous for its beaches and nightlife, local security was heightened before the arrival of the US military. Pattaya Police Chief Anek Srathongyoo told Agence France-Presse on the 6th that the port trip overall "went smoothly". Except for two U.S. sailors who had a physical altercation near Bar Street in the early morning of the first day due to a drunken altercation and were sent back to the ship, there were no other disputes or arrests.
