Russia twice sent official requests to the Canadian side to extradite Gunka and bring him to trial on charges of genocide.

NEW YORK, September 5 - RIA Novosti. Canada has not yet shown any willingness to even conduct an investigation into the activities of Yaroslav Gunka as part of the SS Galicia division, said the Russian ambassador in Ottawa Oleg Stepanov.

Russia twice sent official requests to the Canadian side for his extradition and prosecution on charges of genocide, the ambassador emphasized.

“Even if the Canadian authorities consider it impossible to transfer Gunka to Russia, the issue of responsibility does not end there. In international practice there is a principle - “extradite or carry out criminal prosecution ourselves” (aut dedere aut judicare). But the Canadian side has not yet shown a willingness to even conduct an investigation into Gunka’s activities as part of the SS division “Galicia,” Stepanov said, as quoted by the embassy on the Telegram channel.
