Argentina imposed sanctions against 45 individuals associated with oil exploration off the Malvinas Islands

Argentine authorities have imposed sanctions against 45 individuals and entities involved in the exploration and development of oil fields off the disputed Malvinas (Falkland) Islands. The office of the President of the country informed about this.

“Today, on behalf of the President of the country, Javier Miley, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Argentine Republic ordered the imposition of sanctions against 45 individuals, both individuals and legal entities,” the statement said.

Data on companies and persons in respect of which restrictions are imposed are not provided. However, as specified, the sanctions will also include shareholders of companies developing fields and legal entities that provided them with services.

The Malvinas Islands, known in the UK as the Falkland Islands, have been the subject of a territorial dispute between Argentina and the UK since 1982.
