Rep. Maeng Seong-gyu of the Democratic Party of Korea, who served as the chairman of the transition committee for the 9th popularly elected mayor of Incheon, said on the 15th, "I will present direction based on two axes: the municipal administration direction of the 9th popularly elected mayor and the complement points of the 8th popularly elected mayor."

Chairman Maeng met with reporters at the G Tower in Incheon Songdo International City on this day and said, “I think the nature of the transition committee is not to correct or take action, but to basically suggest the direction in which the Incheon mayor will move forward.”

Regarding the major pending issues, such as the metropolitan incinerator, the independent office of the Office of Overseas Koreans, hosting Formula One (F1), and the term of office for heads of city-affiliated organizations, he explained, "Once opinions are gathered by each subcommittee, we will present a direction at the transition committee level."

In response to the criticism that there has been no clear activity since the transition committee was launched last week, Chairman Maeng responded, “This is just the beginning, so please wait,” and “I will tell you when a conclusion is reached.”

Regarding the inclusion of a large number of seven Democratic National Assembly members from the Incheon region in the transition committee, he emphasized, "One of the disappointing aspects of Incheon City is the lack of a close cooperation system with the central government," and added, "We placed active lawmakers after careful consideration to play a role at the National Assembly level."

The transition committee plans to visit the Incheon City Corporation (iH) under the city this afternoon to receive an on-site work report, and hold a full meeting on the 17th after discussions by subcommittee.
