EU Commission Spokesperson Thomas Regnier answered questions about slowing down the pace of development of artificial intelligence models for security purposes at the daily press conference held in Brussels.

Stating that the EU plays an active role in artificial intelligence security, Regnier said that the Union is a pioneer in this field.

Regnier stated that they have implemented security measures to protect citizens in the development and launch of artificial intelligence systems and said, "The Artificial Intelligence Law is in force and we are implementing it. We also sent our first requests for information." he said.

Addressing the debate on accelerating or slowing down the development of artificial intelligence models, Regnier emphasized that the EU supports technological innovations.

"We welcome AI services in Europe, provided they are fully compliant with the law and the security measures we have established," Regnier said. he said.

Asked whether the artificial intelligence company Anthropic had contacted the EU Commission regarding its proposal to slow down the pace of artificial intelligence development, Regnier stated that he was not aware of such a meeting and that they would not make a statement about possible bilateral contacts.

Regnier reminded that the EU Cyber ​​Security Agency (ENISA) has access to and tests most of the most advanced artificial intelligence models, and emphasized that compliance with EU rules is not optional for companies, but a legal obligation.
