Stating that they rejected preventing the Palestinian delegation from attending UN meetings, Abbas said, "The Palestinian people and administration should not be punished for demanding an end to the occupation." he said. Emphasizing that resorting to international law and institutions is a peaceful and civilized choice, Abbas stated that this is not an action against peace. Abbas noted that preventing the Palestinian delegation from entering the UN Headquarters was a violation of the United States' obligations as a host country.
"THE PALESTINE PEOPLE FACE ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS PERIOD OF ITS HISTORY"
Expressing that the Palestinian people are facing one of the most dangerous periods in their history, Abbas said that attempts at killing, destruction, starvation and forced displacement continue in Gaza due to Israeli attacks.
Stating that the expansion of illegal settlements in the West Bank and the attacks of Israelis usurping Palestinian lands have accelerated under the protection of the Israeli army, Abbas stated that Israel's practices eliminate the two-state solution.
Addressing world leaders, Abbas said, "We call on a new Nakba (Great Disaster) and massacre against our people not to be allowed, and also not to allow settler violence." he said. Calling on the US administration to lift sanctions and restrictions, return to dialogue and mutual respect, Abbas asked Washington to work with the international community to implement the two-state solution based on international legitimacy. Stating that the two-state solution will ensure peace for everyone, Abbas said that it is an alternative to the understanding of "establishing a Greater Israel" and eliminating the existence of the Palestinian people.
"PROMISES MUST BE FULFILLED"
Emphasizing that they welcomed US President Donald Trump's peace plan, but did not see any concrete developments in this direction on the ground, Abbas called on Trump to fulfill his promises to Arab countries regarding the prevention of forced displacement of Palestinians and the annexation of Palestinian lands. Abbas noted that the transition period should result in the unification of Gaza and the West Bank under a single state and a single legitimate armed force. Warning especially against the implementation of Israel's "E1" illegal settlement plan, Abbas stated that the plan in question would separate the south of the West Bank from the central parts.
Abbas said that Israel's attacks on UN buildings in Jerusalem and the West Bank weakened the capacity of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to fulfill its duties, and demanded that these attacks be stopped. Stating that the Israeli government has forcibly detained more than 6 billion dollars of money belonging to the Palestinian people, Abbas called for the immediate release of the funds in question. “Our people remain on their land and will not accept forced displacement.” Abbas emphasized that military occupation, expansion of illegal settlements, annexation and attacks by Israelis usurping Palestinian lands cannot create a permanent solution that provides security.
"WE REJECT ATTACKS AGAINST CIVILIANS, NO MATTER WHO COMES FROM"
Abbas stated that they want an unarmed Palestinian state that will live side by side with the Israeli state and said, “We want security and peace for everyone. “We reject attacks on civilians, no matter who they come from, and we fight anti-Semitism.” he said.
