FARIDABAD: A 44-year-old scrap dealer who allegedly shot dead his 42-year-old neighbour, Paramjeet Dhankar, a former regional business head of Tech Mahindra's Asia-Pacific region, following a parking dispute in Faridabad, has been arrested from DLF Chowk in Ballabgarh, police said on Saturday.
The accused, identified as Mohan alias Monu Sharma, allegedly opened fire at Dhankar in Sector 21C on Friday night, killing him on the spot.
According to police, the accused fired around 15-16 rounds, three to four of which hit Dhankar, killing him on the spot.
Dhankar lived on the first floor of house number 641 with his wife, son and daughter, while the accused resided on the third floor of the same building.
Police said Dhankar had returned home from the gym around 8pm when an argument broke out between the two men over vehicle parking.
The altercation escalated, following which Mohan allegedly pulled out his licensed pistol and opened fire.
Investigators are also probing whether an earlier dispute involving a pet dog contributed to the shooting.
According to police, the two families had been involved in repeated disputes. Five days before the incident, Mohan had allegedly abused Dhankar's son.
The victim's family had also approached the police with a complaint over the dispute a few days earlier, but the matter was subsequently settled.
Dhankar was employed with a private company in Singapore and had returned to Faridabad just two days before the shooting to attend his nephew's wedding, scheduled for November 24. He originally hailed from Hisar.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Dhankar had earlier served as regional business head of Tech Mahindra's Asia-Pacific region. He was currently working as senior vice-president of FPT Software Company Limited.
