Accident between car and truck leaves 6 dead in Bielândia, Tocantins

A crash between a car and a truck left six people dead on Sunday night (16). The accident happened on TO-010, near Bielândia, district of Philadelphia, in the north of Tocantins. The victims included an 8-year-old child and a 16-year-old teenager. The police reported that the car was traveling in the south/north direction when it collided head-on with a tractor truck coupled to a semi-trailer that was going in the opposite direction. According to the police, five people died at the scene and one was rescued, but died on the way to the hospital.

According to the military, the driver, his wife and a couple with children were in the car. The victims were identified as: Raimunda Martins da Silva, 44 years old; Lorimar Martins da Silva, 53 years old; Lucileia Pereira da Silva, 40 years old; Raimundo Pereira da Luz, 38 years old; Raymary Pereira da Luz, 16 years old; Victor Pereira da Luz, 8 years old. The truck driver was taken to the Araguaína Regional Hospital, where he received medical assistance and was discharged in the early hours of Monday (17).

The Fire Department was called and removed three bodies that were attached to the car's hardware. The other two bodies were found on the track. Philadelphia City Hall published a note of condolence on social media lamenting the accident. "We sympathize with the families and friends of the victims, wishing them strength and comfort." The bodies were taken to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) of Araguaína, where they underwent autopsy examinations and were released to their families. The case will be investigated by the Civil Police.
