Overseas Advisory Council holds regular general meeting in Tokyo... Lee Seong-hee elected as new president

The '2026 Gyeongbuk Overseas Advisory Council Regular General Meeting' was held at a hotel in Tokyo, Japan from the 13th to the 15th.

At the general meeting, about 90 overseas advisory committee members from 21 countries attended, held subcommittee meetings by chairman and continent, and discussed ways to advance overseas and expand international exchanges for Gyeongbuk companies using networks from around the world.

At the event, 10 food companies in the province displayed and promoted their products, and the council and the Gyeongbuk Food Export Companies Association signed a business agreement to expand entry into overseas markets.

At the general meeting, member Seonghee Lee, who works in Uzbekistan, was elected as the new chairman of the council.

The council, which has been in operation since 1995, was launched as an incorporated association in November 2024. Currently, 133 members from 44 countries are supporting international exchanges in Gyeongbuk and the overseas expansion of local companies from all over the world.

Lee Seong-hee, the new chairman of the council, said, “We will further strengthen harmony and cooperation by bringing together the networks and capabilities of the members,” and added, “We will create results that will be of practical help to the 9th popularly elected Gyeongbuk provincial government.”

Gyeongbuk Province Governor Lee Cheol-woo said, “Please help raise Gyeongbuk’s international status and revitalize its economy and tourism through a wide network,” and asked, “Please cooperate in fostering the K-food industry as a new growth engine.”

Kim Hee-soo, Chairman of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council, said, “The Provincial Council will also actively support the global network of members so that it can lead to the overseas expansion of provincial companies and expansion of international exchange.”
