Minister of Justice Gürlek: Bone remains were found after 39 years in unsolved files

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek made a statement on his social media account yesterday regarding the results of the studies carried out under the coordination of the Unsolved Crimes Investigation Department.

According to Gürlek's statement, bone remains were found after 39 years during the excavation carried out in the file of Nigar Bilgin, who has not been heard from since 1987 in Şavşat, Artvin. A suspect was arrested. Suspects were also caught or arrested in files in Yozgat, Diyarbakır, Eskişehir, Trabzon, Kilis and Kayseri. Minister Gürlek said, "We will continue to pursue unsolved files with determination, with new evidence, developing technology and the opportunities provided by our specialized units. Whether 3 years or 39 years have passed, we will not give up on tracking the truth and working for the manifestation of justice."

- ARTVİN / ŞAVŞAT - NİGAR BİLGİN - 39 YEARS OLD UNCLOSED PERSON: In the file of Nigar Bilgin, who was never heard from again after her marriage in 1987, bone remains were found during the excavation carried out as a result of new statements and location procedures. One of the suspects, Z.B. was arrested, M.B. A decision was made to place him under house arrest.

- CORRUPTED / COMPASSIONATE - HAMZA GEDİK - 21 YEARS OLD UNknown perpetrator: In the file of Hamza Gedik, who was killed in the TMO campus where he worked on July 8, 2005; Old notifications, re-taken statements and obtained evidence were evaluated together. Following findings that the murder was carried out as an instigation and participation, 6 suspects were caught in operations carried out in Kırşehir and Istanbul.

- DIYARBAKIR / SUR - ERHAN KURT - 19 YEARS OLD UNknown perpetrator: In the file of Erhan Kurt, who was strangled to death in Hevsel Gardens on September 21, 2007; New witness statements, HTS and base records, Forensic Medicine Institute evaluations and contradictions in previous statements were re-examined. Based on the new findings, 6 suspects were caught in the simultaneous operation carried out in Diyarbakır and Batman.

- ESKİŞEHİR / SEYİTGAZİ - YAKUP BOZKURT - 14 YEARS OLD UNCLOSED PERSON: In the file of Yakup Bozkurt, who disappeared on May 8, 2012 when he was only 2.5 years old and whose lifeless body was found, 6 suspects were detained as a result of technical studies and re-taken statements. One of the suspects, father A. Bozkurt, was arrested.

- TRABZON - KÖKSAL KOL AND MEHMET KAPLAN - 12 YEARS OLD UNCLOSED PERSON: With new witness statements in the file of Köksal Kol and Mehmet Kaplan, who disappeared on June 26, 2014, the previous decision of not prosecuting was annulled. E.A., who was detained after new evidence and statements were obtained regarding the murder and burial of two people. and A.B. was arrested.

- KİLİS / ACAR VILLAGE - KHALED TAYSON - 12 YEARS OLD UNknown perpetrator: In the file of Khaled Tayson, who was found dead in an irrigation well on July 15, 2014; As a result of the new Forensic Medicine examination, witness statements and base analysis, the previous decision of non-prosecution was annulled. Within the scope of the restarted investigation, 3 suspects were caught.

- KAYSERİ - FEHMİ LUP - 3 YEARS OLD UNknown perpetrator: In the file of 84 percent disabled Fehmi Lup, who was found dead in Kayseri Asri Cemetery on October 9, 2023; camera footage, baseline data and new witness statements were re-evaluated. M.C.D., who was found to be connected to the incident. was arrested.
