A 5 magnitude earthquake occurred in Adana at 04.02. Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) reported that there is no negative situation as of now after the earthquake that occurred in Saimbeyli district of Adana. Adana and its surroundings are among the regions where active tectonic movements are effective. MTA's map is used as one of the main resources in examining active fault systems around Adana.

Adana's earthquake danger is not limited to the faults within the city borders. Active fault systems in surrounding regions can also affect Adana and Çukurova regions due to possible earthquakes.

In the Adana Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Plan, it is stated that the city is located in one of the active earthquake zones. In the report, especially Ceyhan, Yumurtalık, İmamoğlu, Seyhan and Yüreğir districts; It is considered among the districts that may be damaged by earthquake disasters due to its existing building stock and proximity to fault lines.

The report states that Ceyhan, Yumurtalık, İmamoğlu, Seyhan and Yüreğir districts are among the regions that may be damaged by an earthquake. However, this does not mean that all neighborhoods or buildings in these districts carry the same level of risk.

In determining earthquake risk, not only the distance to the fault line; The characteristics of the ground, the durability of the structures, the age of the building, construction conditions and local ground effects are also taken into account.
