Lavrov joked about the purpose of Russian weapons in response to a question about the Romanian missile defense base

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov joked when answering a journalist’s question about whether Russia is targeting the Deveselu military base in Romania. The diplomat spoke about this at a press conference following his participation in the high-level week of the UN General Assembly.

The journalist asked whether the base in Deveselu, where elements of the American missile defense system are located, is still on Moscow’s list of targets.

“Well, it’s a secret,” Sergei Lavrov said sarcastically.

Earlier, President Vladimir Putin said that the process of negotiations on a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine has been frozen. At the same time, he emphasized that Moscow would not object to introducing positivity into the negotiation process. He called information about whether the production of weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Great Britain could become a target for the Russian Armed Forces a military secret.
