Negotiations between Sergei Lavrov and Marco Rubio in New York ended

Negotiations between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio ended in New York; they lasted about an hour.

High-ranking diplomats took part in the negotiations from the Russian side, including the Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya and the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

NEW YORK, September 23 - RIA Novosti. Negotiations between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio ended in New York; they lasted about an hour, a RIA Novosti correspondent reports.

From the Russian side, the negotiations were also attended by the Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya, the Russian Ambassador to the United States Alexander Darchiev, the director of the North Atlantic Department Alexander Gusarov, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova and the director of the foreign policy planning department Alexey Drobinin.

Before the start of the negotiations, American journalists began shouting questions to the heads of foreign affairs agencies. The ministers responded with smiles, but did not respond.

Earlier, Lavrov himself said that at the meeting he would ask Rubio about Washington’s position on Ukraine and mediation efforts. In recent days, the situation has been complicated by the adoption in the United States of a law on new anti-Russian sanctions.
