Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath come back to life on the big screen thanks to their farewell concert, which finally becomes a film and arrives in cinemas from 28 October 2026.

The concert that marked the farewell of the so-called "Prince of Darkness" to the public becomes a cinema film entitled Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning. A highly anticipated title that will bring the last live performance of the heavy metal legend and Black Sabbath back to the big screen.

The event took place on July 5, 2025 at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, hometown of Black Sabbath. For Ozzy Osbourne it was a special occasion: in addition to performing a solo set, the singer returned to the stage together with the original members of the band, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward, for the first time in twenty years.

The concert was also Osbourne's last big farewell to his fans. The singer died on July 22, 2025, a few weeks after the event.

An evening with the great rock bands

On stage, together with Ozzy and Black Sabbath, numerous artists from the international metal and rock scene took turns. Among others, David Draiman of Disturbed, Halestorm, Travis Barker, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Slayer, Pantera, Tool and Alice in Chains.

42 thousand people attended the evening directly from the stands of Villa Park, while another three million followed the event via paid live streaming.

Ozzy's Wish

The origin of the project was told by Sharon Osbourne, the singer's wife and manager. The idea for the concert, he explained, came from a question addressed directly to Ozzy: what he really wanted to do.

The answer was linked to the desire to return to the stage to greet the audience. The goal was to say goodbye to the fans and thank them after a decades-long career.

The movie

The film version of the concert, entitled Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning, is directed by Ben Wainwright-Pearce, who also edited Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. The promise of the production is to offer an immersive audiovisual experience, transforming Ozzy and Black Sabbath's last live date into a theatrical event.

The original concert was directed by Tim van Someren, while the film's production is entrusted to Mercury Studios. International distribution is handled by Trafalgar Releasing.

Tickets for Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning will be available from tomorrow, Thursday 24 September 2026, through the project's official website. Back to the Beginning thus becomes the cinematic document of the last chapter of Ozzy Osbourne's career and the last Black Sabbath concert.
