AfD Co-Chair Alice Weidel Calls for Dialogue with Russia and the US

BERLIN, September 21. /TASS/. Alice Weidel, co-chair of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, has stated that it is important for her party to open a channel of dialogue with Russia jointly with the US, including regarding negotiations on gas supplies from Russia.

"We will, of course, not communicate with just one side; we are talking to both sides. We operate on the premise that we want to have good relations - with the US, naturally," Weidel said at a press conference, commenting on potential contacts with Russian representatives.

"It is important for us to open a dialogue channel with the Russian side jointly with the Americans. Both sides have clearly realized that the Alternative for Germany is the only reliable partner left in Germany," the AfD leader added.

On September 19, Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s Presidential Special Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) - mentioned the possibility of working with the AfD to restore the Nord Stream pipeline.

A week earlier, Dmitriev announced plans to hold a Russia-US-Germany business forum in 2027. Over 20 requests for participation have already been received from German businesses. Dmitriev noted that the initiative was also supported by the AfD and the American Chamber of Commerce.
