Gyeongnam Province controls entry of livestock vehicles to 10 migratory bird habitats to prevent AI quarantine

Gyeongnam Province announced on the 21st that it will block livestock vehicles from entering 10 migratory bird habitats in 7 cities and counties starting in October to coincide with the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI).

The control period lasts until February 28th of next year.

During this period, livestock vehicles cannot enter and exit 10 migratory bird habitats, including Junam Reservoir (Changwon-si), Upo Wetland, Bongsan Reservoir, Jangcheok Reservoir, Topyeongcheon (Changnyeong-gun), Sacheonman (Sacheon-si), Goseongcheon (Goseong-gun), Yangsancheon (Yangsan-si), Hwapocheon (Gimhae-si), and Sannaecheon (Hapcheon-gun), which are frequent destinations for winter migratory birds.

The 10 areas are areas where AI has occurred in the past or where the AI ​​virus has been detected in migratory bird feces, carcasses, and live migratory birds.

Livestock vehicles that violate access control to migratory bird habitats are subject to a fine of up to 10 million won in accordance with the Animal Contagious Disease Prevention Act.
