A hailstorm swept through Santiago, the capital of Chile, causing water bombs to rain down on subway stations and chunks of ice floating on the roads, paralyzing the city center. In the western region, tornado-like strong winds tore off the roof of a bus terminal, destroyed buildings, and toppled dozens of trees. Precipitation this month was 108 mm, more than a third of the annual average, and the Chilean Meteorological Administration judged it to be an unusual spring rain due to the El Niño phenomenon.

On the 16th, there will be a very large daily temperature difference of around 15 degrees across the country and there will be a lot of clouds, and there will be places where rain continues until dawn in northern Gyeonggi and inland in central and northern Gangwon. The lowest temperature in the morning was forecast to be 7 to 16 degrees, and the highest temperature during the day was forecast to be 22 to 26 degrees.

The Korea Meteorological Administration announced that the wind warning for the eastern coast of Jeju Island was lifted at 1 p.m. on the 14th, but the wind warning was maintained for four areas: the western coast of Jeju Island, the southwestern coast of Jeju Island, the southeastern coast of Jeju Island, and the southern coast of Jeju Island.

Indonesia's worst forest fires in 11 years have disrupted aerial firefighting efforts for more than a week, severely worsening air quality in Malaysia and Singapore. The Philippines, which chairs ASEAN, announced that foreign ministers from member countries will seek solutions to the haze problem ahead of next month's summit.

According to an analysis by Rep. Eogyu of the National Assembly's Climate, Energy, Environment and Labor Committee, it took an average of 457.5 days from application for reexamination of humidifier disinfectant damage to notification of results, with the longest case taking 1,658 days. Delays were greatest at the medical review stage, he said, causing additional suffering to victims and their families.

As cold air came in from the northwest and strong winds blew, the temperature on the morning of the 14th fell below 10 degrees nationwide, and Seoul recorded 9.3 degrees, 1.5 degrees lower than normal. In Cheorwon, Gangwon-do, the temperature dropped to 5.7 degrees, and the highest daytime temperature is expected to remain between 17 and 22 degrees. A strong wind warning has been issued for the west coast and the south coast of Jeollanam-do, and a wind warning has been issued for most of the sea. Strong winds with an instantaneous wind speed of more than 70 km per hour, wave heights of 1.5 to 4.0 m, and winds of up to 5.0 d or more are expected. There is a risk of accidents due to swells on the east coast, so you should refrain from approaching the coast.
