A serious car accident occurred in the Fudou Tunnel of National Highway 3 this morning. At about 5 a.m., a 68-year-old man surnamed Chen was driving a semi-connected vehicle through the center lane of the 18.7-kilometer Fudou Tunnel southbound on National Highway 3. He was accidentally hit by a small truck driven by a 73-year-old man surnamed Xu from behind. Then, another small truck driven by a 65-year-old man surnamed Chen and a minibus driven by a 61-year-old man Li were unable to react and they pursued each other. Four vehicles collided at the scene, causing two people to be injured and sent to hospital.

The accident resulted in Chen, who was driving a minivan, having both legs broken on the spot, multiple bruises all over his body, and being trapped in the vehicle. After the police were informed and rushed to help him escape, he was rushed to the Taipei Medical University Affiliated Hospital for treatment. Another minivan driver, Xu, suffered a head injury and multiple contusions all over his body and was sent to the hospital.
