A fire broke out in a residential house on Mingyi 7th Street, Ji'an Township, Hualien at night, and the fire department went to the scene to put out the fire.

In the house next door to Mayamai Presbyterian Church on Mingyi 7th Street, Ji'an Township, Hualien, a raging fire suddenly broke out in the carport at around 9 p.m., and the fire once spread to the second floor. The fire department rushed to the scene and found that the first floor was completely in flames. Five people in the house luckily escaped, but the owner's brother, a 64-year-old man surnamed Jian, was found by firefighters. He was choked by thick smoke and lying on the ground on the third floor. He lost breathing and heartbeat. Fortunately, he was sent to the hospital and regained signs of life.

Detachments including Ji'an, Renli, and Hualien sent 18 vehicles, 28 police firefighters, and 30 firefighters to the scene to put out the rescue. When they arrived at the scene, the first floor was completely in flames. About half an hour later, the fire was under control. Five of the six members of the owner's family escaped. When counting the number of people, it was found that "one person was missing." Firefighters entered the fire scene to search, and found the owner's brother, 64-year-old Jian Man, lying on the ground on the third floor. He was suspected of being choked by thick smoke and fell into coma. He had no breathing and heartbeat. After being sent to Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital for emergency treatment, he was lucky to be saved from death and regained signs of life.

Neighbors nearby said with lingering fear, "When the fire was at its peak, the flames almost reached the second floor!" Neighbors said that there were many large agricultural machinery parked in the carport on the first floor of this family, as well as electric motorcycles, large refrigerators and other furniture, and flammable materials such as engine oil. It was suspected that an extension cord pulled out from the house caught fire. Because the carport was full of flammable materials, the fire instantly grew bigger. Fortunately, it did not spread.
