Fair Trade Commission's guideline flyer draws criticism over suspicion of use of generated AI

The Fair Trade Commission, which announced guidelines for fair trade in the anime and film industry, is perplexed by unexpected criticism.

The guidelines were published on the 22nd. The petition calls for online video distribution service companies to disclose the number of views of original works to production companies, and to improve the situation in which they unilaterally set prices despite the increasing demand for animation drawings.

However, a leaflet announcing the guidelines drew unexpected criticism.

The reason for this is that the illustrations on the flyers informing the animators involved of the guidelines appeared to have been created using generative artificial intelligence (AI).

Many of the illustrations posted were created by generative AI. There have been criticisms on social media such as, ``Are we using generative AI as a guideline to support creators?''

Illustrations created by generative AI tend to be criticized, with criticisms such as ``They are created by learning from existing works, and are free riding on the designs and styles that their predecessors worked so hard to create,'' and ``The work is lost to the actual creators.''

This time, because it appeared on a flyer issued by a public institution in the context of supporting creators, it came under even more scrutiny on social media and other sites.

However, according to the JFTC, it was made by ordering it from a production company. The person in charge said, ``The creators may have used generation AI in some areas, but they paid for it, so I don't think it's something that the JFTC made without paying any money.''
