The 46th meeting of the Family Solidarity Network (ADA), established by the relatives of those detained and arrested in the March 19 operation, was held in Saraçhane.

NEW Istanbul Women's Branch President Hatice Selli Dursun, relatives of detainees, representatives of non-governmental organizations and citizens attended the meeting.

Dilek Kaya İmamoğlu, wife of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality President and presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has been detained in Marmara Closed Prison in Silivri for more than a year, said the following in her speech:

"Turkey is now experiencing pain that it has never seen in its history. None of the pain we witness is a coincidence; they are all interconnected results of deep poverty, injustice and social decay that deepens day by day. While the environment of violence that has spread to our schools threatens the safety of our children, our young people who have earned university degrees with great effort are handed over to the housing crisis, financial inadequacies and are forced to abandon their education. Our retired police officer, who ended his life in front of the Constitutional Court on September 25, and the countless suicide cases that unfortunately are not even reported in the press, make despair reach unbearable levels. "I hereby commemorate our police officer who lost his life and offer my condolences and patience to his family. The burden of the despair of a retiree who has served the state for a lifetime is the same as that of a student who gave up on his dreams because he does not have a home. The uncontrolled increase in crime that surrounds daily life and the heavy anxiety about making ends meet in homes cannot be the product of the same neglect."

“LISTEN TO OUR CALL FOR JUSTICE”

Emphasizing justice, İmamoğlu continued his words as follows:

"Every citizen who comes to his door to seek his rights should know that he will only find impartial justice. When our people lay their heads on the pillow, they should feel the existence of a law and a state standing behind them. Rulers and governments change; what is permanent is the state and institutions. Institutions derive their power not from the privilege of a group, but from their impartiality and the trust they give to the nation. No public institution can be a tool for temporary political balances. Today, our common demand is very clear. Laws should stand on the side of the right, not the strong. Justice is not for the individual, it is equal for everyone." "Because if there is justice, it exists for everyone. Every citizen of this country can and should be accountable to justice, no matter what office they hold. Because we defend the transparency and accountability of the administration, different application of the law according to the person, institution or political party undermines the trust in justice, state institutions and the rule of law."

"LET THE HEARINGS BE BROADCAST LIVE"

Reiterating his demand for the hearings to be broadcast live, İmamoğlu concluded his words as follows:

"From here, I call out to all politicians once again. Heed our call for justice. Come to Silivri. Attend the hearings. Listen to the families. Hear with your own ears and see with your own eyes the violations of rights we are experiencing. Do not allow the will of the nation to be usurped and the nation's trust in its state to be shaken. We speak not only for our loved ones, but for everyone who wants to believe that their rights will be protected in this country. What Turkey needs is not more fear, more separation and more desperation; we can trust again. "It is a legal order. We have to build a Turkey where every citizen is sure that their rights are protected, their voices are heard and justice is served equally for everyone. Our struggle is for this, we are determined to continue our struggle for rights, law and justice."

“THE CONCEPT OF 'IMMIST' IS ESTABLISHED IN THE PRISON”

Then Nehir Işık, daughter of detained Beşiktaş Deputy Mayor Nazire Oylum Işık, read her mother's letter.

Işık stated the following in his letter:

"One night, suddenly, in the morning, without any explanation or justification, I was taken away from my home, my family, and my children, in front of my neighbors' eyes, without any explanation or justification, and was detained in a dawn operation. The esteemed prosecutor wanted to take my statement himself. Even though I got sick that day and was taken to the emergency room by ambulance, he did not prevent me from testifying at the prosecutor's office on the same day. From the emergency room to the prosecutor's office... Again, the same story you know. A few lies, misrepresentations, a few HTS records... Concrete." Accusations and arrests made without any evidence or evidence... As someone who has never even been to a police station in my life, the first question the inmates ask when meeting each other is 'Why are you in prison?' The concept of 'IBB supporter' has now been integrated into the definitions we used to know, such as theft, extortion, drugs, terrorism and murder. Everyone who is taken within the scope of municipal investigations is defined as 'IBB supporter', regardless of the institution or district they are from.

“I LOST 5 POUNDS”

Finally, the letter of the detained NEW Party Istanbul Provincial Women's Branch Vice President Özlem Demir Karakaş was read. In the message read by Women's Branch Manager Hülya Karakurt Mahmutoğlu, Karakaş explained the following:

"At around 02.30 on the night between May 18 and May 19, I was detained from my father's house, next to my then 7-year-old son and my 67-year-old mother. At the same time, my wife was also detained in our own home. However, we were going to attend the May 19 celebrations. On the evening of May 20, I was arrested one day before my wife and brought to Silivri prison. The next day, the party to which I had devoted my time and effort for years, and of which I was an unshakable supporter, was perceived as illegitimate due to the way it was attended in people's minds. Butlan administration was introduced. I was deeply saddened by the deepening of the political psychology in my country. I lost 5 kilos since the time I was detained and arrested. My celiac gene, histamine allergy, and leaky bowel syndrome caused me to suffer from malnutrition. Unfortunately, these syndromes in my body require me to follow a specific diet program. "I used to weigh between 46-47 kilos now."

Open Questions
