Strong showers and storm warning for Istanbul from AKOM

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Affairs and Risk Management Department (AKOM) published the weather forecast report for Sunday, September 27 for Istanbul. According to the report, thunderstorms as well as strong winds blowing from the north at a speed of 30-60 kilometers per hour are expected in the city.

TEMPERATURES WILL DECREASE BELOW 20 DEGREES

According to AKOM's report, the temperature is expected to be 19 degrees in the morning, 22 degrees at noon, 20 degrees in the evening and 17 degrees at night in Istanbul.

While the humidity rate is expected to be between 55 and 90 percent throughout the city, the wind is expected to blow from the north, occasionally in the form of a storm, at a speed of 30-60 kilometers per hour.

It is estimated that the sea water temperature will be around 21 degrees.

STRONG SHOWERS AND STORMS WARNING

In AKOM's assessment, it was stated that consecutive cool and rainy weather systems coming over the Balkans will be effective in the Marmara Region, especially in Istanbul.

It was noted that due to the system that is expected to be effective throughout the week, temperatures will drop below 20 degrees, strong winds from the north and occasional storms will be effective.

The report also warned that locally strong thunderstorms may occur.

RAIN IS EXPECTED THROUGHOUT THE WEEK

According to AKOM's weekly forecast, rainy weather in Istanbul will continue its effect in the coming days.

Monday, September 28: Thunderstorms. 16-20 degrees, rainfall amount 20-50 kg/m².

Tuesday, September 29: Thunderstorms. 14-18 degrees, rainfall amount 30-60 kg/m².

Wednesday, September 30: Mostly cloudy and showery. 13-19 degrees, rainfall amount 10-20 kg/m².

Thursday, October 1: Partly cloudy and mostly cloudy. 12-20 degrees, no rain is expected.

Friday, October 2: Mostly cloudy, light rain. 12-19 degrees, rainfall amount 3-7 kg/m².

Saturday, October 3: Thunderstorms. 13-20 degrees, rainfall amount 5-15 kg/m².

In AKOM's forecasts, rainfall is expected to be heavier, especially on Mondays and Tuesdays, while temperatures are expected to remain below seasonal norms throughout the week.
