Alberto Catalán (UPN) urges Margarita Robles to leave the Government

The spokesperson for the Navarrese People's Union (UPN) in the Congress of Deputies, Alberto Catalán, scolded Defense Minister Margarita Robles this Thursday for "leaving this Government with her head held high" instead of "continuing in the same government submissively and, above all, despised by her colleagues."

This was stated in the plenary session held this Thursday in the Lower House, during his reply to the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, who appeared to explain the Executive's management of the Ceuta migration crisis.

"The Minister of Defense, repudiated for stating that they were warned of what could happen. Mrs. Robles, it is better to leave this Government with your head held high than to remain submissive and, above all, despised by your colleagues," Catalán told Robles.

The minister accepted these words with a serious gesture. In the same way as minutes before he reacted to the announcement by President Pedro Sánchez of the publication of a dossier with all the documents on the migratory crisis in Ceuta sent by the National Intelligence Center (CNI) and the State Security Forces and Corps to the Government Delegation and the Ministry of the Interior. After listening to the Chief Executive, while all the ministers applauded from their seats, Robles remained without applauding. Furthermore, at the end of Sánchez's appearance, the Government and PSOE bench stood up to applaud the president except for Robles, who continued sitting and visibly upset.

Likewise, the UPN spokesperson has reproached the Government for having been "incapable of convening a Council of Ministers in Ceuta" since the migration crisis began. During his speech, Catalán also stated that the "sad reality" is that "immigration is a business."

For his part, Sánchez has promised the people of Ceuta another 100 million more aid to alleviate the consequences of the massive entry of migrants on July 30, as well as demanding in the European Union special treatment for autonomous cities, including their own tax regime like that of the Canary Islands, and a visit from King Felipe VI "in the coming weeks."
