Margarita Robles distances herself from Pedro Sánchez in Congress during the Ceuta crisis

The Minister of Defense has remained seated and practically without applauding after the first intervention of the President of the Government this Thursday in Congress to give explanations about the crisis in Ceuta. Unlike the rest of her colleagues in the Executive and the PSOE bench, Margarita Robles has not shown signs of enthusiasm about Pedro Sánchez's version, denying the existence of reports about the "massive entry" of 72,000 people that occurred on July 30 and 31 in the autonomous city.

In her own appearance last week in the Lower House, the head of the Armed Forces pointed out that the Spanish Intelligence services did warn of what could happen on that maritime border with Morocco. His position contrasts with that maintained by the Ministry of the Interior, with Fernando Grande-Marlaska at the helm, that there was no anticipation of "the magnitude" and not "what was going to happen", but of "nothing similar" to the jump over the fence in 2021, when 10,000 immigrants entered at once, which is the thesis that has been officially maintained in La Moncloa.

During his speech, the Chief Executive stressed this Thursday the denial that in the days before the avalanche there were "extraordinary warnings that anticipated what happened next." This despite the fact that, as this newspaper has published, two reports did point out the possibility of a "massive" entry and the "collapse" that was "very likely" looming in Ceuta.

Robles has also not applauded when Sánchez, from the speakers' gallery, has assured that he has "nothing to hide in this matter" and that for this reason he has given the order to "publish a dossier with all the reports, all of them, so that the media and citizens can examine them." Later asked about her reaction in the halls of Congress, the Minister of Defense declined to respond.
