Alençon: Four men indicted after the death of a homeless man

Four men aged 17 to 25 were indicted after the death of a homeless man in Alençon, in Orne. On Thursday, the Caen prosecutor, Joël Garrigue, announced the opening of a judicial investigation for “murder, failure to report a crime, failure to assist a person in danger”, we learned on Wednesday.

The facts date back to the night of Monday August 17 to Tuesday August 18, in the city center of Alençon. The police, alerted for “an attack in progress in the center of the city”, discovered a man in his sixties, “seriously injured but conscious”, who died around twenty minutes later, according to the public prosecutor.

The investigation, supported by testimonies and videos, led to the arrest of several individuals who had spent an alcoholic evening with the victim before separating.

One of them filmed the scene with his cell phone.

Running out of drinks, two of them wanted to retrieve a bottle left for the homeless man who was moving around using a crutch. According to Joël Garrigue, “one of them put him on the ground, beat him and hit him with his crutch, while the second filmed the scene”.
