An alleged iPhone Fold mock-up is going viral online just days before Apple is expected to unveil its first foldable iPhone. The functional-looking prototype was shown by Canadian YouTube channel Unbox Therapy, giving viewers an early look at what Apple’s upcoming foldable phone could look like. The video, which has crossed 1.9 million views, features an alleged Chinese mock-up of the device. Host Lewis Hilsenteger said the quality of recent prototypes coming out of China has been improving, although the device shown in the video is not the final retail product. The alleged iPhone Fold is expected to use a book-style folding design, with a smaller display on the outside and a larger screen that becomes visible when the phone is opened.

The prototype shown in the video has a design similar to other large foldable phones already available in the market. It folds in half around a central hinge and opens into a tablet-like screen. The alleged mock-up appears to have a cover display on the front and a larger internal display. Reports cited in the source material suggest the outer screen could measure around 5.5 inches, while the main display could be around 7.8 inches. The video also shows two camera lenses on the rear of the device. The volume controls appear to be positioned toward the top, while two additional buttons can be seen near the hinge area. Hilsenteger suggested that these buttons could be related to the folding mechanism or could have functions connected to taking photos and videos while the phone is closed. Their final purpose, however, has not been confirmed.

One of the most noticeable details in the prototype is the visible crease running through the middle of the internal display. Previous reports and leaks have suggested that Apple could work to make the crease less noticeable on its foldable phone. Hilsenteger also said there is little chance the final iPhone would have a crease as pronounced as the one seen on the mock-up. The device shown in the video should therefore not be treated as a confirmed representation of the final iPhone Fold. Apple has not officially announced the phone or confirmed its specifications.
