Animated John Wick movie officially announced

Lionsgate continues to expand the series with the animated John Wick movie. Moreover, the studio gave official approval for the project. Keanu Reeves, who will once again bring his voice to life as John Wick, will star in the leading role. Therefore, series fans will encounter a familiar name.

On the one hand, Lionsgate is planning for John Wick 5. He also prepares spin-off films. Animation production will be the new link of this expanding universe. Thus, the series moves beyond the stories on the cinema screen.

What will the animated John Wick movie tell?

The movie, whose name has not been announced yet, will rewind the story to the beginning. It will also take us into John Wick's past. In the first movie, John said that he had to perform an impossible task to get out of the world of assassins. However, that mission has only been described verbally in the series so far.

The new production will focus exactly on this task. Because in order for John to leave that world behind, he will have to kill all his rivals in one night. Therefore, for the first time, the film will show in detail an event that has only been told in the series. On the other hand, this approach will offer a new look at the character's most well-known story.

In short, the animated John Wick movie will be a production that tells the events at the beginning of the series. Moreover, the story starts from a sentence that fans know. Therefore, it is expected to be a clear introduction for new viewers.

Who are the directors and screenwriters?

The film will be directed by Shannon Tindle. Tindle is also the director of Netflix's Ultraman: Rising. Therefore, a name experienced in the field of animation is at the head of the project. On the script side, there is the duo Ryan and Kaz Firpo.

The duo was previously involved in writing Eternals for Marvel. However, this project will be their first work in the John Wick universe. Still, the team's past work gives an idea about the film's cast.

The project has been in preparation for some time. However, it received official confirmation from Lionsgate this week. Therefore, the production is now finalized. In addition, the studio's plan to expand the universe with different films has become clear.

A release date has not yet been announced for the animated John Wick movie. The studio is expected to give a date in the future.
