Ankara's exports exceeded 12 billion dollars in 8 months

According to the written statement made by Ankara Chamber of Industry (ASO), the capital's exports increased by 2 billion 85 million dollars in the 8 months of this year compared to the same period last year.

Thus, foreign sales in this period increased by 20.7 percent and reached 12 billion 156 million dollars.

Ankara, whose share in the country's exports increased from 6.5 percent to 7.5 percent, became the third province with the most exports. The capital's annual exports were recorded as 19.57 billion dollars.

Ankara's exports last month reached 1 billion 347 million dollars, an increase of 2.9 percent compared to the same month of 2025. Thus, the highest August exports of the last three years were achieved.

Companies from Ankara exported to 168 countries in August, and the share of the top 10 markets in total exports was 56.5 percent.

The electrical and electronics sector ranks first in the capital's exports.

In the 8 months of this year, the electrical-electronics sector ranked first in Ankara's exports with 1 billion 513 million dollars. Exports of the sector increased by 82 percent compared to the same period in 2025.

This sector was followed by the automotive industry with 1 billion 294 million dollars, chemicals with 1 billion 218 million dollars, machinery and parts with 1 billion 157 million dollars, and mining products with 1 billion 50 million dollars.

Ankara's largest export market in the January-August period was the USA with 976.5 million dollars. This was followed by Slovakia with 885.4 million dollars, Ukraine with 861.9 million dollars, China with 822 million dollars and the United Kingdom with 768.1 million dollars. In the same period, 40.4 percent of exports from the capital were made to European Union (EU) countries.

ASO President Seyit Ardıç, whose views were included in the statement, stated that Ankara has a strong ecosystem with organized industrial zones, universities, R&D centers and qualified human resources.

Underlining that Ankara, the heart of the defense industry, is improving its ability in high-tech production day by day, Ardıç said:

"The production power and technological competence of Ankara's industry is strongly reflected in the rise in exports. Our goal is to spread our high technology capacity, concentrated in the defense industry, throughout our industry and to further increase the added value of our products and the unit value of our exports. We carry out projects that accelerate the technological transformation of our companies, facilitate their access to international markets and open the door to new collaborations. We are working determinedly to make the highest contribution to our country's economy by expanding the production and export power of our capital."
