Written by Anna Foglietta, Tania Pedroni and Matteo Ferri, the film Una storia tells the emotional transformations that can redefine the balance of a family and a couple.
As stated on the Venice Film Festival website, "Erika (Alba Rohrwacher) and Mauro (Guido Caprino) live in the province, in a simple everyday life made up of reassuring habits and small gestures. When their daughter Irene leaves to study in another city, the house is emptied and the balance on which the couple has built their existence seems to crumble. Erika, who has always inhabited the world through the care of others, suddenly finds herself without direction. Mauro, raised in emotional rigor of an authoritarian father, tries in his own way to react by filling the void, but ends up dealing with a fragility he has never confessed. In the suspended time that follows, distant wounds and forgotten desires resurface. It will be precisely this intimate and profound crisis that pushes them to really look at themselves and understand if and how they can transform themselves and consequently their love".
"I wanted to make a film about relationships, in which the true protagonist was the soul. A film built on waiting, on minimal movements and on daily rituals. Through the interior cracks of the characters I wanted to bring out silent truths and anxieties that we often choose not to name, leading to a central question: do we still know how to desire?", we read in the comment by Anna Foglietta, the director of the film Una storia.
"The camera has become an instrument of listening rather than representation, lingering on the faces and leaving the gazes with the task of telling what words were unable to say. The static shots without internal cuts arise from the need to inhabit the emotional time of the characters without imposing responses. Even the close-ups are never completely centred: between us and them there is a filter, a veil that makes their nature only partially graspable. Together with the actors I sought a fragile and explosive interior nakedness, fundamental to the story, because without their vulnerability the heart of the film would not have beaten. It was an act of love and a request for trust between everyone on the set, from the actors to the departments and the crew, contributed to making every element of the film unique, coherent and precise. But it was precisely this clarity of the path that welcomed the unexpected: it is as if the film, in its precious unpredictability, had truly revealed itself."

Part of the film's shooting was carried out last January inside the iN's store in Torvaianica, transformed for a few days into one of the locations of the narrative. A supermarket, a space for everyday life and for people to meet, has thus become an integral part of the cinematic story, confirming the brand's desire to be close to the real life of the communities it welcomes into its stores every day.
