Anti-terrorist exercises in Russian kindergartens: children participate in simulations

The maneuvers take place on August 18 and 19 at facilities in various regions of Russia. Photos published by kindergartens show that children were involved in some of the exercises.

According to Meduza, in some places children and their guardians were supposed to lie face down on the floor. The photos described by the Russian and emigre media also show simulations of a hostage situation and people pointing weapons at the training participants.

"During the exercises, several scenarios were simulated: an armed attack using flammable liquids, as well as the taking of hostages - children and a teacher from one of the kindergarten groups," one of the kindergartens reported in a statement.

They are the first to be injured

During the exercises, four teachers were injured after a stun grenade exploded at a school in the village of Serkovo in the Moscow Oblast, Russian media report.

According to REN TV and the Baza and 112 channels on Telegram, a stun grenade was thrown through a window into one of the rooms. It was about to fall onto the table and then explode. Four teachers suffered eye injuries and abrasions. The injured were taken to hospital.

The Russian authorities announced that the maneuvers were intended to check the preparation of the management, teachers and security staff in the event of a terrorist attack. However, the scope of children's participation was not previously reported in detail.
