Asphalt gives way and crater 'swallows' truck in Grande Fortaleza; video

A truck was "swallowed" by a crater after part of the asphalt gave way while the vehicle was traveling on Rua X, in the Parque Dom Pedro neighborhood, in Itaitinga, in the Metropolitan Region of Fortaleza, this Friday morning (23).

In addition to the vehicle being stuck in the hole, with the rear wheels suspended, a pipe broke during the sinking of the asphalt and water was gushing out, flooding part of the street.

To prevent the truck from tipping over while it was still stuck in the hole, the driver improvised shoring on the side of the car, using a wooden stake.

The Itaitinga Civil Defense reported that the city's Infrastructure Secretariat sent teams to the scene of the incident. There is no information about what caused the asphalt to break.
