EES warning for those traveling to Europe: Arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before

An important warning was issued to those traveling to Europe.

The European Union's Entry-Exit System (EES) envisages the digital recording of non-EU citizens' entry and exit into the Schengen Area and their biometric data.

FLEXIBILITY REGULATION HAS ENDED

Within the scope of the system, passengers' facial images and fingerprints must be recorded in addition to their passport information. While the EES, which came into force on April 10, 2026, was gradually implemented throughout the Schengen Area, the flexibility regulation that allowed the temporary suspension of biometric data collection at busy border gates ended as of September 6.

ARRIVE AT THE AIRPORT AT LEAST THREE HOURS AGO

AJet, which made an announcement to its passengers on its website, stated that there may be congestion in passport and security control processes.

In the announcement, "Due to the new entry/exit systems implemented at European airports, passport and security control processes may be congested. In order to avoid disruption of your flight operations, we kindly request you to be present at the airport at least 3 hours before your flight time." It was said.
