Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi was commemorated at her grave in Didim

A commemoration was held for Eygi at his grave in Didim Asri Cemetery. In the program attended by their relatives, the Holy Quran was read and prayers were made.

Eygi's husband, Hamid Mazhar Ali, who came from the USA, told reporters that although 2 years have passed since his wife's death, her pain is as fresh as the first day.

Ali said, "Two years have passed, the pain continues in the same way. The fact that nothing has been done to hold the perpetrators accountable increases this pain and disappointment." he said.

Eygi's cousin Bahar Tıkkın also stated that they were very sorry and said, "We know that Ayşenur has a stance that says, 'What is happening in Palestine should not happen this way. I will do whatever I can for this with all my strength. Even if I cannot change it, I will leave'. It is a very valuable stance for humanity." he said.

Israeli soldiers opened fire on the participants during a peaceful demonstration in the occupied West Bank. Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi, who participated in the demonstration in support of the Palestinians and had US citizenship, was shot in the head and seriously injured.

Eygi, who was taken to a Palestinian hospital, died on September 6, 2024, and was buried in Didim district of Aydın on September 14.

Eygi was a human rights activist and volunteer with the International Solidarity Movement, who supported the Palestinians through peaceful and civil methods against the occupation of Palestinian lands by Israel.
