He was surprised': truck driver tells police officers that he tried to brake when he saw a car enter the opposite lane of the highway
Truck was hit head-on by a car that crossed the Zeferino Vaz Highway construction site, in Paulínia. The 49-year-old driver of the car died at the scene.

The truck driver hit by a car that entered the opposite lane on Rodovia Zeferino Vaz, in Paulínia, on Saturday (5), reported that he tried to brake. The driver of the car died.
The victim, aged 49, was driving an Equinox model vehicle and was alone at the time of the collision. The driver of the truck was not injured.
The truck driver's breathalyzer test was negative for alcohol. The dealership released the lane after removing the vehicles and cleaning the road.
A second accident occurred at the scene soon after. The Highway Police reported that people tried to record photos and videos of the initial collision.
The driver of the trailer hit head-on by a car that crossed the median and entered the opposite lane of Rodovia Zeferino Vaz (SP-332), in Paulínia (SP), told the police that he tried to brake, but had no time to react.
The accident occurred on Saturday (5) and caused the death of Geraldo Caetano, 49 years old, who was driving the car that invaded the lane where the trailer was. The Civil Police are investigating the causes of the accident.
The truck driver was not injured. He was not identified by the police and did not want to record an interview.
"He was surprised by the vehicle in front of him. He tried to brake the vehicle, but without much success", explained Military Highway Police Sergeant Felipe Bispo.

The truck left Santa Catarina bound for Paulínia and was unloaded. The carrier's parking lot is about two kilometers from the accident, according to company officials.
The car driven by Geraldo Caetano is a Chevrolet Equinox and was completely destroyed.

Who is the victim of the accident
Caetano was born in Custódia (PE) and was alone in the car. Images from the highway security circuit recorded the accident. See here.
After the crash, Caetano's body was stuck to the hardware. The car, which had Campinas license plates, had its bodywork twisted.
Teams from Rota das Bandeiras, the concessionaire that manages the road, worked to remove the trailer. Afterwards, cleaning was carried out to free up the section. The flow continued along the shoulder until the work was completed.
The truck driver's breathalyzer test was negative for alcohol. Forensics were on site to identify the causes of the accident, which will be investigated.
Another accident occurred afterwards because, according to the Highway Police, people tried to take photos or videos of the collision between the car and the truck.
