Kaohsiung dual exhibition: Cai Wude’s World Spoon Exhibition and Hong Yuanyi’s Tainan Hometown Oil Painting Exhibition are held simultaneously

Kaohsiung recently held two unique art exhibitions. Artist Hong Yuanyi looked back at his hometown in Tainan with 58 oil paintings, while collector Tsai Wude took the public on a "travel" around the world with about 300 unique spoons from 40 countries. Each started from the land and travel, and preserved precious cultural memories through art and collections.

Cai Wude's "World Spoon Exhibition" will be on display in the art exhibition room on the 10th floor of Puxian Temple in Fo Guang Shan from now until October 1. Cai Wude has served as the consultant of the Kaohsiung City Government, the construction director of the Kaohsiung City Government, the provost of Kaohsiung University of Applied Science and Technology, and the provost of Shude University of Science and Technology. The characteristic spoons he has collected for many years show the cultural characteristics of different regions through elements such as national flags, landmarks, buildings, characters, and totems. They are not just collections, but also records of what he saw, heard, and cultural memories during his travels.

The exhibition is accompanied by the launch of the book "Appreciating the World of Spoons", which combines AI art and AR augmented reality. Co-author Liang Shanbo (Sanbo) uses cross-disciplinary creations to reinterpret the origin, culture and collection stories behind the spoons, linking traditional collections with new technologies.

"Taiwan's Mountains and Seas - Hong Yuanyi's Creation Exhibition" will be on display at the Kaohsiung City Cultural Center to Zhentang Hall 3 from now until October 6. Hong Yuanyi was born in the fishing village of Hailiao, Beimen, Tainan. He is the nephew of the late amateur painter Hong Tong. He never forgets the salty land where he was born. He hopes to use his paintbrush to re-define the natural and cultural features of Taiwan that are deep in his heart on the canvas.

Hong Yuanyi was influenced by the temple culture of Nan Kunyu, and was exposed to traditional door gods, murals, stone carvings and other arts in his childhood. He graduated from Beimen High School and was admitted to the National Art College (now the National Taiwan University of Arts). After graduation, he stayed in Taipei to work. For many years, he used the scenery of his hometown as the theme of his creations. Through smooth brushstrokes, light colors and large color blocks, he painted the scenery of Qigu, Beimen, Jiangjun and other salty areas.
