National Power: “The end of President Lee’s personnel abuse… Withdraw Lee Yong-cheol’s nomination.”

On the 7th, the People Power Party again called for the withdrawal of President Lee Jae-myung's nomination of Defense Acquisition Program Administration Director Lee Yong-cheol as a candidate for the new Minister of Justice, saying, "It is an unconstitutional idea to complete his perfect crime by mobilizing all state agencies."

Chief Spokesperson Park Seong-hoon criticized in a commentary that day, saying, "President Lee's arbitrariness in personnel appointments is showing the end of the story. It went round and round and eventually led to the 'Seongnam Cartel' personnel appointments."

Chief Spokesperson Park said, "There is only one purpose in giving the ministerial position to the person who is criticized as the 'hidden architect' of the Daejang-dong suspicion," and "the intention is to turn the Ministry of Justice into a bulletproof defense attorney for the president and completely erase judicial risk by entrusting him with the hidden design of the indictment cancellation."

Senior floor spokesperson Choi Soo-jin also commented, saying, “A country where the president, who is a defendant in the Daejang-dong incident, entrusts the entire administration of justice to those involved in the Daejang-dong suspicions is not a normal country under the rule of law,” and demanded, “Immediately withdraw the nomination of this candidate.”

In a Facebook post, five-term lawmaker Yoon Sang-hyun said, "Candidate Lee is a typical Seongnam line member who graduated from the same law firm Saegil as President Lee, served as a member of the transition committee when President Lee was elected mayor of Seongnam in 2010, and later served as CEO of the Seongnam Industrial Promotion Foundation."

Han Ki-ho, a 4-term lawmaker and former lieutenant general (3-star general), said on social media, "When (candidate Lee) was appointed as the head of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration in 2025, people who know the defense business said it was ridiculous that a person who had no concept of strengthening the military's power was assigned to the position simply because he was a pro-Lee Jae-myeong faction who was involved in the Daejeon-dong corruption case."

One lawmaker sarcastically said, "If you ask me what I did during my first year in office, I can't remember anything, and that's why I'm a ghost commissioner who doesn't even succeed in a single major arms export case, and who won 4 games and lost 4 times," and added, "Now that Lee Jae-myeong has been selected as the leader to save criminals and becomes the Minister of Justice, even a scarecrow in the field would laugh."
